Dyeing leather with plants - an experiment

Vegetable-tanned leather is characterized by a light, brownish color that varies depending on the tanning mixture used. The various plant extracts give the leather different properties, including varying color shades. Over time, the leather darkens and develops a beautiful patina that tells the story of the product.

In addition to undyed leather, we also sell dyed leather. For dyeing, we exclusively use REACH-certified water-based dyes. Plant-based dyes are not yet widely adopted in the leather industry for various reasons. However, we are currently testing logwood extract, which comes from a reforestation project in Mexico. Dyeing with logwood yields beautiful violet shades. We are very excited about the results and will, of course, be happy to share them with you!
